Status Update Control and Analysis Under Two-Way Delay

We study status updating under two-way delay in a system consisting of sampler, sink, and controller residing at the sink. The drives sampling process by sending request packets to sampler. Upon receiving request, sampler generates sample transmits update packet Transmissions both encounter random delays. develop optimal control policies minimize average age information (AoI) using tools Markov decision processes two scenarios. begin with having most one active i.e., generated for which sink has not yet received packet. Then, as main distinctive feature this paper, we initiate pipelined-type studying requests. Furthermore, conduct AoI analysis deriving expressions $\ZW{1}$ , notation="LaTeX">$\ZW{2}$ notation="LaTeX">$\Wone$ policies. According policy, whenever is delivered new inserted into system. policy operates similarly, except that can hold sent after waiting time function current AoI. Numerical results illustrate performance each varying parameter values.
